Montblanc unveils the first development of the Institut Minerva de Recherche en Haute Horlogerie
Today starts the international fair of fine watchmaking, The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), in Geneva, Switzerland. The event, taking place from January 18th to January 22nd, is an exclusive gathering of the most prestigious names in Haute Horlogerie.
Only a few companies retain a tradition of creating Swiss timepieces – one of them is located in Villeret: Minerva, a small watchmaking manufacture, founded more than 150 years ago.

Readers of the two magazines FORMAT and trend have voted for their favourite watch 2009. For the 7th consecutive year, the Austrian watchmaking scene came together on November 13th for the bestowal of the Chrono Award 2009 that honours the best and most beautiful timepieces of the year. The winners were rewarded in six different categories.

Nicolas Rieussec: The inventor of the world’s first chronograph
A historical moment occurred on September 1st in 1821, at a horse race in Paris, when the watch maker Nicolas Rieussec succeeded in recording the time of every horse passing by the finishing line to an accuracy of a quarter of a second.
