Inspired by the idea of recording time, Montblanc proudly presents „The Montblanc Worldsecond“, a vivid photo-by-photo journey around the world.

A digital journey around the world

With its specially developed mobile photo app, for iPhone and Android, Montblanc invites everyone to photographically capture moments of beauty – at exactly the same instant, all over the world. The app features a unique countdown function with an integrated self-timer, ensuring that the smartphone cameras of all participants worldwide take a picture at the very same moment.

How does the contest work?

It is very easy for the users to take part in this digital journey around the world. All they have to do is to download the free iPhone app via https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/worldsecond-montblanc-worldsecond/id568921206?ls=1&mt=8 or the app for Android devices via https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.montblanc.tws. Once they are logged in with their facebook or e-mail account, the app will remind the user 5 minutes before the next Worldsecond happens, so that every participant is prepared to shoot the photo.

The individual photos from all over the world will be uploaded to the website www.worldsecond.montblanc.com, creating a stunning online mosaic of globally shared moments – being the “Worldseconds”. Until the end of December 2012 Montblanc will “record” 60 digital Worldseconds. That is, 60 opportunities for participants to let their imagination and creativity run free. The app follows up last year’s highly acclaimed „The Beauty of a Second” competition, which celebrated the 190th anniversary of the chronograph. Its success encouraged Montblanc to continue on this path of inviting the audience to take center stage in Montblanc’s new photo project.

The Montblanc Worldsecond website

Due to the fact that the mobile experience includes more than just the app, Montblanc aficionados all over the world, who don’t use the app have also the chance to participate in the contest. Since the contest has started, app users and visitors to the website will be able to choose from the uploaded photos to compile their own photo galleries, having the opportunity to share them through a variety of social media channels.

The Montblanc Worldsecond awards

The Worldsecond photo contest has started at the beginning of November and will end on December 31st, 2012. In early 2013, two winners will be awarded: the photographer of the single image, as well as the contributor of the most creative photo gallery, compiled from the most inspiring pictures on the website. The winner in each category – Worldsecond Photo and Worldsecond Gallery – will receive a watch from the TimeWalker collection.

Take your chance to be part of “The Montblanc Worldsecond” and download the app now. Every second counts.

Keeping up with the Worldsecond was fun. The iPhone app was not totally reliable and sometimes would not load quickly even in good reception areas.

But it was fun to aim the camera and then later sit down and see what the rest of the world was up to at that exact moment.

    Hope you do it again!

    Thanks and Happy New Year.
