In 1992, Montblanc established the Montblanc Cultural Foundation with the aim of identifying worthy art patronage projects all over the world. The Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award honours and support patrons of the arts, who have contributed exceptional time and energy to artists and their work

With this inspiring award Montblanc maintains its rich heritage in supporting artists and cultural projects around the world and believes in the crucial part to be played in the health of the arts, by passionate and committed individuals.

Supporting artists and cultural projects around the world

“Without patrons of the arts, without their vision and inspiration, without their promotion and founding, without their courage and commitment, the worlds cultural heritage would not be what it is today” explains Lang Lang, world renowned pianist and Chairman of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation.

Each year, Montblanc organizes the annual Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award. A jury of internationally renowned artists chooses 12 winners from a shortlist. They receive a Montblanc ‘Patron of Art’ Limited Edition Writing Instrument and € 15.000, which they donate to the arts programme of their choice. The winning patron must illustrate both a history of personal commitment to the arts and also a concern that the wider public should benefit from this. The Montblanc Cultural Foundation is chaired by internationally renowned concert pianist Lang Lang, and was established to develop and support arts and culture, with a variety of global initiatives designed to nurture this commitment.

Honouring outstanding Art Patrons for over 20 years

Over the past 21 years, Montblanc celebrated the great journey and success of this unique award by honouring various outstanding personalities such as Yoko Ono, Dominique du Menil, Sir Simon Rattle and Lord Rothschild. The illustres round of winners is also joined by the long-term supporter of contemporary arts, HRH Prince of Wales and Her Majesty Queen Sofia for her long term support of the arts and “The Queen Sofia Foundation“. Moreover Craig Robins, CEO of Dacra and co-founder of Design Miami, was honoured with the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award, USA, during Miami Beach’s celebrated Art Basel show.
