Montblanc celebrates 20th Anniversary Year of the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award

In 1992, Montblanc established the Montblanc Cultural Foundation with the aim of identifying worthy art patronage projects all over the world.Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award In these 20 years, the “Montblanc de la Culture Art Patronage Award” has recognized and celebrated the work of outstanding private patrons of the arts throughout the world—patrons who have dedicated time, energy, experience, and financial resources to the furtherance of arts and culture.
Montblanc celebrates the 20th anniversary of this unique award with the Montblanc Art of Writing Exhibition.

Honouring Patrons of the Arts of our time

Without patrons of the arts, without their vision and inspiration, without their promotion and founding, without their courage and commitment, the worlds cultural heritage would not be what it is today” explains Lang Lang, world renowned pianist and Chairman of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation.

Each year, Montblanc organises the annual Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award. A jury of internationally renowned artists chooses 12 winners from a shortlist. They receive a Montblanc ‘Patron of Art’ Limited Edition Writing Instrument and € 15.000, which they donate to the arts programme of their choice.

Since 1992 the list of winners has contained figures as diverse and as varied as Dominique du Menil, Sir Simon Rattle, Susan Sontag, Lord Rothschild, Gian Carlo Menotti, Jackie Chan and Tamasaburo Bando.

In this anniversary year, the Montblanc de la Culture Arts Patronage Award 2011 will be given to distinguished people in 12 countries, with Russia and its many emerging patrons being the latest to join the list.

The Art of Writing Exhibition

Montblanc celebrates this anniversary with the unique “Montblanc The Art of Writing Exhibition” presenting a fascinating journey into the fine art of writing instruments. Exhibited are the 20 Montblanc Patron of Art Limited Edition Writing Instruments that Montblanc unveils each year – since 1992. These precious pens are inspired by different historical patrons of the arts and exclusively designed and crafted in Montblanc’s Artisan Studio. The exhibition will be presented in several countries like Japan, Italy, France, Spain, United Kingdom, USA and China. More information coming soon.
