This year, the Young Directors Project takes place at the Salzburg Festival 2010 for the ninth time. The participation in the Young Directors Project offers young emerging directors the opportunity to present themselves for the first time to an international audience. As in previous years, Montblanc has entirely sponsored this year’s event, which has become an indispensable and extremely popular part of the Salzburg Festival.
Productions from The Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium
In 2010, the Young Directors project presents four productions from The Netherlands, France, Germany and Belgium. The spectrum ranges from the magical-musical theatre of Jakop Ahlbom´s company through the highly topical revolutionary play developed by Sylvain Creuzevault on the birth pangs of French democracy to the ancient expedition in Oedipus’ world by the Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse in the first German-language production by Angela Richter from Hamburg and to an evening based on the tragically prophetic world of Frankenstein´s creator Mary Shelley produced by the Belgian Claude Schmitz.
New and exciting jury for the Young Directors Project
There are new faces in the jury this year. Dr. Helga Rabl-Stadler (President of the Salzburg Festival) and Thaddaeus Ropac (Ropac Gallery), who were in the jury in previous years, are now joined by the actress Birgit Minichmayr (Salzburg´s “Buhlschaft“), the journalist Andrea Schurian and the actor Klaus Maria Brandauer (who can be seen as “Oedipus“ in Salzburg this year).
This new and exciting jury will award this year’s Montblanc Young Directors Award on Saturday, 21st of August 2010. The winner of the Montblanc Young Directors Award 2010 will be endowed with prize money amounting to €10,000 and the Montblanc Max Reinhardt fountain-pen, which is designed exclusively for this project.
